Nail It: Cupcake Nail Art?!?!

Hi beauties,

A few days ago I made a batch of chocolate cupcakes and they looked so cute that I decided to recreate the delicious treats on my nails. Unfortunately the cupcakes were gone by the time I finished my design and I forgot to take a picture of them to show you. They were very tasty though ^_^. Here is a photo of the finished design:

Now let's get started:

I Polishes:

For this design you need three basic polishes ( bubble gum pink, baby pink and white) and all the other colors are used for details. Here are the ones I used:
1.For the Base:
- "miss Selene" Nail Lacquer in 122
- Active Nail Hardener by "Perfect"
- "Brooklin" Nail Lacquer in 16

2.For the Designs:
- "miss Selene" Nail Lacquer in 122
- "Classics Charming" Nail Lacquer in 03
-  "Brooklin" Nail Lacquer in 16

3. For Details:
- "Classics Charming" Nail Lacquer in 28
- "Classics Charming" Nail Lacquer in 03
- "Classics Charming" Nail Lacquer in 88
- "miss Selene" Nail Lacquer in 204
- "Catherine Arley" Nail Lacquer in 704
- "Golden Rose" Rich Colour Nail Lacquer in 114

II Tools:

For this design you will only need an art brush and a dotting tool.

III Steps:

This is a simple Mix & Match design, so I used a few different designs and mixed them up.

- Nail one: CUPCAKE

1. Apply a base coat.
2. Paint a rectangular shape on the tip of your nail. I used to strokes of my darker pink polish.
3. Make diagonal strips with baby pink polish. You can make them as many as you like and as thick as you like. The direction of the lines is also optional.
4. With a mediaum or large dotting tool make a line of dots at the inner end of your "cupcake cup".
5. With the same dotting tool continue dotting downwards towards the cuticle, but on every layer decrease the number of dots by one. Do this until you have only one dot.
6. With different bright colors and a small dotting tool add the sprinkles.
Optional: At the top of the cupcake I added a pink gem.

When everything has dried, add a topcoat!

- Nail 2: Stripes

This design doesn't need much explaining, but I'm going to quickly go over each picture, in order to make everything clear. ^_^
1. Apply a base coat.
2. Paint your nail two thin coats of a bubblegum pink polish.
3. With a thin art brush and a baby pink polish make diagonal stripes. The number, direction and thickness depend on you.
TIP: For different nails I switched the colors (e.g. baby pink base and darker stripes) and the direction of the lines.

When everything has dried, add a topcoat!

- Nail 3: Polca Dots

1. Apply a base coat.
2. Paint your nail two thin coats of a baby pink polish.
3. With a medium or (if you have larger and longer nails) large dotting tool and a darker shade of pink make polca dots (as in picture 3) over the entire surface of your nail.
TIP: You can switch the two shades of pink (e.g. use darker for the base and lighter for the dots).

When everything has dried, add a topcoat!

- Bonus Design: Dripping Frosting

This is a design I did on my second hand and you don't have to do it. It's a bit more tricky, but with a little practice even a complete beginner will do a wonderful job.
0. Apply a base and paint your nail two thin coats of a bubblegum pink polish.
1. With a large dotting tool make a large dot halfway down your nail and lightly bring it up towards the tip. You can see what it's supposed to look like on picture 1. Make 2 or 3 drips.
2. With the same dotting tool create slightly curved lines to connect the drips of frosting.
3. With a small dotting tool and your favorite colorful polishes make sprinkles.

When everything has dried, add a topcoat!

Well, this is how you can create this simple and super cute nail art design! I hope you like it!
